High Impact Leadership: The 5D Model of Implementation
Dr. Reeves equips leaders and educators with research-based strategies to move beyond initiative overload and into meaningful, measurable change. Participants will explore why implementation efforts often fail and discover the 5D methodology—Discover, Design, Deliver, Double Back, and Double Up—that drives sustainable improvement. Grounded in current research on literacy, student engagement, staff retention, and the constructive use of AI, this presentation provides practical leadership levers, clear feedback practices, and proven approaches to building fearless schools. Attendees will leave with actionable tools to focus their efforts and lead change with maximum impact.
Keynote Speaker Information
The NMPED is pleased to announce that Douglas Reeves will be the Keynote Speaker for Day One of the Fall 2025 AREA Conference. His presentation will take place on Wednesday, September 3 from 8:00-9:00 a.m.
Douglas Reeves
Dr. Douglas Reeves is the author of more than 40 books and 100 articles on education and leadership. Twice named to the Harvard University Distinguished Authors Series, Doug has received several national and international awards for his contributions to education.
Doug has taught at every level, from primary grades to post-doctoral students. Doug and his more than 60 colleagues at Creative Leadership Solutions have served students in 50 states and more than 40 countries. He lives in Boston.
Mileage Reimbursement Information
Primary DTCs and AAAC members who drive over 60 miles each way to attend the conference qualify for mileage reimbursement at the rate of 67 cents per mile.
At the end of the conference, each participant will receive a thank-you note from Cognia Events, which will contain the reimbursement form as an attachment for the participant’s completion, if they qualify. The form must be completed and emailed to Events@Cognia.org. Please allow 6-8 weeks for processing.
